The number of homeless women in Germany has risen in recent years.
Domestic violence, forced evictions and mental illness all play a part in the worsening tendency. Most homless women in Germany are psychologically unstable or sick. They choose a life on the streets rather than to move to an assisted living facility; they want to live a self-defined life. I wondered at what point the women decided to leave their families - was it when they were afraid to burden them with problems resulting from psychological illness? How is life for a woman living on the streets?

Starting at Berlin's Hauptbahnhof, located in government district, their traces disappear into the huge Tiergarten parc nearby. The night. The concrete place disappears in the dark, becomes anonymous and interchangeable. The photographs and videostills are the result of long-term relationships with the women in the years 2013 to 2015.
